Parental Injunctions and Psychological Positions Some Injunctions are good and helpful while others become limiting beliefs that can sabotage our relationships and life goals. Parental Injunctions may have been directly expressed, implied through role modeling, reinforced by giving strokes to the child for certain behavior, or misinterpretations/ fantasies of the child.

In fact, if you listen closely you may notice that many times your internal self-talk is a conversation between your Parent and Child ego states. These parental messages are recorded on and sent from the neural network of our Parent ego state ( Second Position) to the Child ego state ( First Position). These beliefs and decisions about вЂњrealityвЂќ become embedded in the implicit memory - stored on the neural networks of the Parent and Child ego states, they continue to run automatically as subconscious programs into adulthood.
